Bonaire

Our current home, the island of Bonaire is a real little gem in the southern Caribbean, small and quiet in comparison with the busier - and more well-known - neighbouring islands of Aruba and Curaçao.

Bonaire is ringed by a coral reef which you can access easily from the shores of the island, making it a very popular destination for divers and snorkelers (like us!)  The entire coast line has been a marine park since 1979, helping to ensure the water is as clean and clear as possible. The national bird of Bonaire is the beautiful flamingo and they live and breed on the extensive set of colourful saltpans in the south. The island is also home to roaming donkeys and the endangered Lora (Yellow Shouldered Amazon Parrot).

Borneo

Between 2005 and 2013 we lived in Sabah, East Malaysia, on the beautiful island of Borneo. Our home was in a small Kadazan village, or kampung, about 15km from the capital of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, at the foothills of the Crocker Range.  Despite being only 20 minutes drive from a big city, life in the kampung was very rural, with kerbau, swamp buffalo, wandering around freely.

Papua New Guinea

We lived for three years in Papua New Guinea, between 1991 and 1994. It was a wonderful experience to live in this country with such an abundance of natural beauty and cultural diversity. During our years there we took hundreds of photos and slides but sadly most of them have not survived the test of time - and several moves around the world!
