Amateur radio has been a part of Eva's life since she met Steve. Though, funnily enough, it was her mother that took the chance to go on air before she did in 1983 when Steve set up a portable station at Eva's parents' summer house, just south of Stockholm. It is a cherished moment by Eva of her late mother's fearlessness of trying something new.
Eva got her first licence in the mid 90's whilst living in England but only became active once she and Steve left England in 2005 and moved to Kota Kinabalu. There she was licensed as 9M6EVA.
She received her most recent licence as PJ4EVA in June 2019. She is the only resident female operator and, as far as we are aware, the FIRST resident female operator on Bonaire.
Eva was not very active on the air from Kota Kinabalu and mainly used the station to keep in contact with Steve when he was on a DXpedition. Nevertheless she worked some good DX from Sabah including 3B7C, 4W6A, 5A7A, S21XA, T32AJ, T32BJ, T32C, T32CI, T32MI, T32SI, T32VI, VK9DNX, VU7RG, VU7MY, XW8XZ, Z22JE and ZL8X. Below are a few of her exotic QSL cards!
